One of the most popular kinds of videos Barbee0913 and I post on YouTube are doll and toy show hauls. Recently, we went to the Chicago Toy Show at the Kane County Fairgrounds and picked up quite a few cool things. See what we bought below or check out the video to watch the grand unveiling!
My first purchase was a G1 (first generation) My Little Pony. Springy, part of the Color Swirl series, is a year 10 My Little Pony made in 1991. She’s on a bride body, which is why she stood out to me. Not many ponies were made on this type of body as it was used at the very end of the line. Springy is pink with white stripes. She’s bright and vibrant. Of the three ponies in this line, she’s my favorite.
Admittedly, she was a bit pricey at $50.00, but when I checked online, the price seemed on par with what others were paying and since I don’t buy My Little Ponies very often, I decided to splurge a bit.
Baton Twirling Skipper was priced really fairly at $10.00, so I had to take her home. I have a few outfits that need dolls, so she’ll be changing out of her baton twirling uniform into something a little more casual soon! I love this era of Skipper.
My mom picked up this cool mod outfit for Francie, the Combination. Both of us love the fun colors and funky jacket! It’s hard to find Francie outfits that are different and affordable, so this was a nice buy!
Upsy Downsy’s are one of my mom’s favorite kind of Kiddle. And who could blame her? They’re so cute and colorful! Here are two new ones for her collection.
Goofy is actually a Christmas gift for my uncle. He’s a disneyana collector. This Goofy is something we don’t usually see and is from the 1960’s.
My mom is a Kiddle collector, so of course we always look for them at the Chicago Toy Show! This time around, she ended up picking up some really cute, pretty minty Little Kiddles.
My biggest purchase of the day was actually an upgrade! There was a booth with a Jem and the Holograms Rockin’ Roadster that was in great shape, with all the pieces mine was missing. The price was good, so I decided to pick it up. I am going to pass my original to my mom, as I think her Jem dolls would love it.
And there you go— those are our finds from the Chicago Toy Show. If you attend the show and spot us, say hello! We love meeting people at doll and toy shows. And if you’re curious what we’ve found at other shows, check out our YouTube hauls! The next Chicago Toy Show is July 27th, so mark your calendars!
