Recently, a friend passed on her Ellowyne Wilde collection to me. Ellowyne Wilde dolls were one of Sharon’s passions and it is an honor to have been selected to give them a home within my collection. For this post, I thought I’d share a few of the dolls in her collection. For simplicity’s sake, I’ll be using Tonner promo photos, because they make the dolls look so good!
Prudence Dressed Me (above) is a perfect example of the heyday of Wilde Imaginations original run. Ellowyne, as a character, was one that was described best with one word: ennui. Production of the Ellowyne Wilde collection from Wilde Imagination began in 2006 and continued through 2016. After a few year hiatus, Rachel Hoffman, with Robert Tonner, brought the line back and it’s been going strong ever since!
The doll pictured above is a very memorable 2010 release and is one of the most colorful that Sharon had in the collection. There are so many things to love about this doll. From her colorful dress to her curly black, blue and purple hair, she’s a stunner and has so much personality!
Red, White and Very Blue is a pretty early Ellowyne release, first hitting the internet in 2006. While simple, this Ellowyne is actually a doll I talked about back on my original blog, which I found to be a full circle moment. I love the striped theme she has and the bright red elements spread throughout her outfit.
Just Another Year from 2007 was limited to 250 pieces and while Sharon’s collection didn’t include the outfit, the actual brunette Ellowyne is so pretty. Her face is so well done! It’s probably a blessing the outfit was taken off, though, as I’m sure it would have stained the vinyl body a bit after the dolls stint in storage.
Pale Memories is a very pretty blonde Ellowyne. This was one of the dolls that had her outfit mostly intact. The light color scheme is one that was not always done with melancholy Ellowyne, and let’s be honest, it can be a bit drab, even on a stylish doll like this. However, Pale Memories looks so youthful and has fantastic light green eyes— I love it!
Okay, Save Me was not in Sharon’s collection, but how cute is this doll? She has a Prudence Dressed me kind of vibe. If I were ever tempted to add another Ellowyne to my collection, this would be one to keep an eye out for!
The 2008 release Always Playing Solitaire has lovely ginger hair. She came to me mostly complete, minus the vest. Even still, this doll has some serious style. She’s a beauty.
Moody Blues was a doll that came nude. Also hailing from 2009, her pale blue eyes are striking against her curly black hair. You may be surprised to know that previously, I didn’t have any in my collection from the Wilde Imagination days, so while these were released decades ago, this is my first real experience with them. What I found interesting with this doll, and a few others, is that the curls are very sprayed down. This girls curls were hard as a rock and still a bit solid after a wash.
I Wait Alone, from 2009, is hauntingly pretty. I say that because with her airy hair and dress, it’s almost like she’s an apparition. She was also one of the few that had her complete outfit, so Sharon must have liked her look, too.
Flights of Fancy, from 2012, is one of the prettiest dolls with inset eyes that were part of Sharon’s collection. I think I’m partial to the dolls with painted eyes, myself, but there’s something about this Ellowyne that is so pretty. She didn’t come with this outfit, but I think this sculpt with her green eyes and reddish brown hair will look good in anything.
These were just a few of what was in Sharon’s collection. I plan on sharing them on my YouTube channel and, of course, will share more here on the blog, as well. Have you ever had a collection passed onto you? Are you an old school Ellowyne collector? Who’s your favorite? Let us know!
Love to see Sharon's dolls in a loving new home. Thanks for sharing!
Prudence Dressed me is one of my "grail" Ellowyne Doll! I want her so badly, but the prices on her are always $500+, which is a hard limit for me. I am hoping Santa Claus (my husband!) brings me one some year. Either that, or I will just have to keep stalking eBay/FB for a deal!
